IMAGE SHARING AND PATIENT RECONCILIATION SERVICES
Pukka-j offers a solution to the perennial problem of communication between disparate systems. The Pukka-j HL7 Engine is the information glue that links systems together, while keeping all the original information in tact..
Pukka-j will launch its “Friendly Interfacing” HL7 Engine at UKRC. The new software makes it easy for healthcare applications and systems to communicate via HL7 messages. The HL7 Engine captures events on one system and then passes them on as messages to update information on another system. It can map data from one system into the format required by a second system while still maintaining the consistent link to the original information.
The new software, which is based on the proven technology behind Pukka-j’s Dicom Explorer, can be used for a variety of interfacing needs. Whether it is for updating information between a Patient Administration System (PAS) and a departmental system and/or Image Store, or making a patient update between different RIS/PAS systems, the HL7 Engine acts as the hub that captures the data and then transmits it, with no corruption to the original information. It can even do the same for PET/CT data, where the HL7 Engines captures the data from the two different imaging systems, and then translates it into a single DICOM modality worklist for a PACS workstation.
In addition, an organisation’s reports and associated images can be distributed to another PACS/RIS entity, via HL7 and DICOM services.
For image sharing a variety of methods are on offer. For instance, Pukka-j can facilitate a ‘DICOM Push’ service to an organisation’s referring sites. Another application is a mechanism for referring sites to web browse an image provider’s Data Store or PACS.
Finally, the Pukka-j system can provide a bespoke software user interface to organisations to distribute images, and their associated reports, from the image provider’s PACS/RIS to another PACS/RIS entity.
Pukka-j is rapidly acquiring a reputation for tackling the difficult areas of PACS and data transmission within radiology. Kevin Wilson, founder and Managing Director of Pukka-j says,
Our philosophy is to evolve medical imaging applications as web-based solutions. Development of our software products is an on-going process combining the latest advances in computing and medicine. We are highly committed to providing the very best radiology software packages available
