2.3.3 Dicom Explorer PACS
The Image Store system is limitlessly expandable to provide Enterprise wide PACS and beyond with easy to use secure email.
The Dicom Explorer system supports connectivity to HIS/RIS/PAS either via HL7 or a dedicated link. This allows the system to act as a broker-less PACS. Further integration is available allowing the browser to be launched automatically from within another application.
The system is designed to minimise system administration. Control of the system is through an easy to use GUI. Full audit logs are maintained at server level for quality control. Reports can be displayed within the application and can be generated for passing to other systems. Each study or group of studies can be emailed to referring clinicians including images, clinical information and reports. The email is encrypted and can be sent anonymised.
The distributed computing technology used by Dicom Explorer allows low cost server structures to be used. When loading a study to the application, the client “pulls” the images directly from the image store and not via a common server. High powered server structures are not necessary reducing the cost of resilience.
