CD and DVD robot link for Rimage Europe and Pukka-j
Pukka-j recently signed an agreement with Rimage Europe to act as a Value Added Reseller of the Rimage Medical Disk series of CD/DVD robots. The Medical Disks Systems will be available from Pukka-j together with software that will enable customers to import and export CD’s and DVD’s. In addition, the Pukka-j system is configured to automatically print onto the media disks any patient demographics, study type and the original referrer, ready for exporting DICOM CD’s and DVD’s. An option is also available to produce disks with or without a Pukka-j viewer, the Pukka-j viewer being compatible with all Microsoft Windows platforms including the latest Vista.
The import disk service is predicted to be especially useful to tertiary sites that face the issue of receiving a combination of CD’s and DVD’s containing DICOM images - and in some cases a manufacturer’s viewer - which often conflicts with the hospital’s PACS viewer. The Pukka-j system strips out any manufacturer’s viewer and only preserves the relevant image data, ready for viewing. The imported images are automatically routed to a Pukka-j Modality Communications Server (MCS) that provides a temporary repository for the imported data. The MCS server can house multiple image server instances for managing different workflow requirements. Imported images can be viewed by the Pukka-j web viewer or with an existing PACS or Web viewer via Pukka-j’s connectivity tools. For imported images required in PACS, the Pukka-j system handles patient reconciliation by way of editing the DICOM image header. There is also an option to enhance the system to receive HL7 messages of patient demographics from existing RIS, HIS or PAS.
