Nexus / Healthcare integration

Connect imaging with the clinical information around it.

HL7 and DICOM integration connects clinical messages, patient and order context, medical images and results. Nexus provides an orchestration layer between imaging and information systems, helping those parts of the pathway work together.

01

Map the whole message journey

Document which system originates patient details, orders, images and completed reports. Identify the messages, DICOM services and API interactions available at each endpoint. This makes the dependencies visible before an interface is configured.

02

Transform information between systems

Nexus supports clinical messaging and imaging workflows using HL7, FHIR, DICOM and DICOMweb. Configure mappings around the fields, resources and image objects each destination actually accepts. A shared standard does not remove the need to test the specific interface.

03

Keep patient and order identity consistent

Patient identifiers, issuers and accession numbers can differ across organisations. Agree a mapping policy, ownership of corrections and exception handling so transferred information remains associated with the intended patient and examination.

04

Return reports and AI outputs

Plan the return journey as carefully as the outbound one. Nexus can connect reporting and AI workflows to receiving clinical systems. Confirm output formats and how each destination links the result to its order, study or patient record.

Common questions

Before we connect.

Does supporting HL7 or FHIR guarantee compatibility?

No. Interface versions, message structures, resource profiles, local codes and authentication requirements vary. Compatibility needs to be confirmed against the exact sending and receiving specifications and representative test cases.

Can we keep our existing RIS and PACS?

Nexus is designed to sit between systems. A project can focus on connecting the estate you already use. Any required changes to source or destination interfaces should be established during discovery.

How is Nexus different from Nexus IS?

Nexus connects and orchestrates data between systems. Nexus IS coordinates information and clinical workflow, including RIS, reporting, referrals and worklists. They address different parts of a connected imaging pathway.
